Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. After relocating to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma attended the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma was aware that she wanted to be an actress. For a number of years she was a student at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught singing dancing and acting. At the age of 10 years old, Emma took part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The movie version of J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was first cast for first time in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford drama teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been picked for these roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's film debut was made with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). This film was 2001's highest grossing film, breaking records on opening day and first weekend. Critics gave high praise to the film, and especially the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British newspaper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Emma received the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in an feature Film. She was later recognized five times in recognition of her performance in the movie.
